Nestled in an impressive mountain cirque in the French Alps, the hamlet of VauniEres rises on a vast, gently sloping plain. Surrounded by historic stone buildings, meadows, and forests, the village welcomes people from diverse cultures, ages, and social backgrounds, creating a truly unique atmosphere. Purchased in ruins in the 1960s by the association Les Villages des Jeunes, the site has been entirely renovated and is now a vibrant living space, fueled by local and international connections. VauniEres is a place for meeting, working, and sharing, where everyone can enjoy both the serenity of the mountains and a dynamic collective energy. Today, the site thrives thanks to a dedicated team, international volunteers, and passing hikers. Roll up your sleeves and join us in our collective living spaces

工作 / WORK

You will contribute to the preservation of the "HEtellerie" buildings facades. This stone structure is currently covered with an insulation layer and a damaged coating. Your mission will include preparing the surfaces for traditional lime work, repointing the stones with mortar, and applying a bonding coat. A local craftsman will guide you through the technical phases of the masonry project. Please note that some tasks involve working on scaffolding. Beyond the technical work, you will take part in daily site maintenance and meal preparation. Work sessions take place every morning, from Monday to Friday. Generally, the project combines traditional masonry, tool management, and the active organization of collective life.

住宿和食物 / ACCOMODATION AND FOOD

You will be accommodated at the campsite in individual tents. A kitchen, dry toilets, and showers will be at your disposal. We welcome you to VauniEres at an altitude of 1,170 meters. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we pay close attention to our environmental impact: we prioritize local products and limit meat consumption to twice a week. Daily life is organized collectively, including menu planning (vegetarian and vegan options available), grocery shopping, and household tasks. Supply trips are organized once or twice a week with project vehicles.

Location : The hamlet of VauniEres is 6 km from the village of Saint-Julien-en-BeauchEne and 23 km from the town of Veynes. There is no Wi-Fi and mobile connection is weak, providing a perfect "digital detox" environment to meet people from all over the world Leisure : You will be in an exceptional location to enjoy mountain hiking, rivers, and alpine lakes. You can explore local farmers markets and attend festive evenings in surrounding villages. On this project, you are the protagonists of your stay: you will play a key role in organizing your free time with the support of the leadership team.

Solidarités Jeunesses

Solidarites Jeunesses works alongside a number of partner organisations world-wide, exchanging volunteers and organising international solidarity projects. The association has been the French branch of Youth Action for Peace till 2009, a movement created after the First World War in order to reconcile people of different nationalities through a better mutual understanding. National Solidarites Jeunesses is a national youth organisation, recognised by the French Ministry of Youth and Sport. Our national headquarters are situated in Paris. We organise short and longer-term international youth volunteer workcamps and voluntary services, projects with people from disadvantaged areas, training sessions, and international solidarity projects. We also manage rural residential and community centres. Regional Solidaites Jeunesses is composed of 7 regional delegations: Ile-de-France, Franche-Comt�, Languedoc-Roussillon, PACA, Auvergne, Poitou-Charentes and Midi-Pyrenees. Moreover it cooperates with partners in the regions of Bretagne, Lorraine and with La Crois�e des Regards in the region PACA. Workcamps The international workcamp is a very important part in the action undertaken by Solidarites Jeunesses. It is prepared a long time in advance in the different regional offices and the National Secretariat. The international workcamp, open to volunteers of any age, is seen as a tool of local and personal development, tolerance and understanding between the different participants. Furthermore, we lay emphasis on the inclusion of people coming from disadvantaged areas. The workcamps promote the active participation of the local population.
