PARTNER

Aventura Marão Clube is a local youth organization that supports various social activities in the city of Amarante, Portugal. For this project, activities will take place across several local organic farms, including Quinta Vila Caiz, Equação CRL, Mimos de Arnoia, and Quinta da Palmeirinha. These farms are dedicated to sustainable agriculture and environmental management. Each location provides a unique setting—from lush vineyards to vegetable gardens—where participants can engage in eco-friendly practices, fostering a sense of community and a deep connection with nature.

WORK

Volunteers will collaborate directly with local organic farmers in the Amarante region to support environmentally sustainable practices and community development. Key tasks and learning opportunities include: Hands-on Farming: Harvesting grapes and other seasonal produce, planting, weeding, composting, and preparing natural fertilizers. Farm Logistics: Assisting with daily farm operations to contribute to both local food production and environmental preservation. Knowledge Exchange: Engaging with local farmers to exchange green practices, promote eco-conscious living, and deepen your understanding of sustainable food systems. By participating, volunteers will actively contribute to the sustainability of the local community while enjoying the scenic beauty and unique cultural experience of northern Portugal.

ACCOMODATION AND FOOD

Volunteers will stay at the hostel inside the Casa da Juventude de Amarante (Youth Center). Sleeping Arrangements: Gender-separated dormitories with four beds each, exclusively reserved for the volunteer group. Bed linens, blankets, and towels are fully provided. Facilities: The Youth Center offers free Wi-Fi, dedicated workspaces, and free laundry services. Meals (Mon-Sat): Meals are served at the center’s restaurant. The menu is primarily vegetarian (with plenty of protein-rich options), plus one non-vegetarian dinner per week. Meals (Sundays): Participants receive a €20 food allowance (reimbursed upon submission of receipts) and can prepare their own meals using the center’s fully equipped kitchen. (Note: Specific dietary requirements should be communicated in advance via a dedicated form to ensure a comfortable stay).

LOCATION & LEISURE ACTIVITY

Location: Amarante, Portugal. Schedule: Workdays run from 9:00 AM to approximately 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM. Leisure Time: Evenings and weekends are entirely free, giving volunteers the chance to relax or explore the scenic town.
