PARTNER
About the Partners This project is a collaborative effort between two experienced Spanish organizations: Asociación Las Niñas del Tul (Granada): A cultural organization with over 20 years of experience in youth work and non-formal education. They focus on promoting tolerance, equality, and inclusion, empowering young people and marginalized groups through active participation and creativity. Fundación Lestonnac Montaigne (Andalucía): Rooted in the Compañía de María, this foundation provides socio-educational support to vulnerable groups, including at-risk youth, women, and families. They emphasize integral development, equal opportunities, and community resilience. Together, these partners offer volunteers the chance to contribute to meaningful projects that combine cultural enrichment, education, and social impact. This activity is part of the ESC High Priority Area ‘VEIL-CORPS’, funded by the European Union within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps Programme.
WORK
Volunteers will support "LA ESCUELITA", a popular summer school for children living in the "La Paz" neighborhood, an area facing significant social exclusion. The summer school hosts approximately 70 children aged 5 to 18. Daily Tasks: Volunteers will assist with breakfast, homework, and various leisure activities such as creative workshops, games, and trips to the swimming pool, followed by lunch. Working Structure: The children are divided into 4 age groups. Volunteers will be split accordingly, usually working in pairs to support each group. Schedule: The voluntary service runs from Monday to Friday. Standard hours are 9:30 to 15:00. Exceptions: On Fridays, there are full-day excursions lasting from 9:30 to 18:00. Occasionally, volunteers may need to stay after lunch to prepare upcoming activities (but no later than 16:30). Weekends are fully off.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD
Volunteers will live in a shared, 5-room apartment located in Barrio de Ronda (near Camino de Ronda avenue). The flat includes a living room, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and laundry facilities. Provided Meals: Breakfast and lunch during working days are covered by the project via a Halal catering service. (Note: Lunch is served around 15:00, after the children leave). Financial Allowances: * Pocket Money: Volunteers will receive €6 per day (totaling €96 for the duration of the project). Extra Food Allowance: Volunteers will receive an additional €60 in total to buy groceries and prepare their own dinners and weekend meals in the apartment.
LOCATION & LEISURE ACTIVITY
Commuting: The summer camp is located in the north of the city, while the accommodation is on Calle Santa Aurelia. The commute takes about 45 minutes by public transport, but bus transportation to the summer school is fully covered by the project. Neighborhood: The apartment is situated in a vibrant student area of Granada. During their free time, volunteers will find plenty of supermarkets, local shops, and bars with outdoor terraces right on their doorstep.
REQUIREMENTS
To participate in this project, candidates must meet the following criteria: Background Check: Providing a clear Criminal Record certificate is strictly mandatory by Spanish law for anyone working with children. We cannot host any volunteer without this document. Language Skills: having at least a basic understanding of Spanish is highly recommended, as it will make communicating with the younger children much easier. Preferred Profile: Candidates with prior experience or a profile as a summer camp monitor or leisure activity coordinator are highly preferred. Criminal record must be provided before the start of the camp Registration to the European Youth Portal is needed - https://youth.europa.eu/solidarity/young-people/about_enEuropean.
