  • The Feira de Canteria, Callos e Artesania is a festival in which stonemasons from all Galicia participate in the contest. You can enjoy dramatized visits to different emblematic places in the village. It is a tradition to eat callos (typical food of Galician gastronomy), all this animated by performances of local groups of traditional music.The Festa da torta de millo is a celebration to enjoy gastronomy, crafts and traditional Galician culture. The traditional music represented by the band of bagpipes of the town hall and guest artists, fills the place with a traditional atmosphere that invites to participate in popular games.The gastronomic side is reserved for the two tastings of the famous Torta de Millo, the culinary emblem of Guitiriz. In addition to the dessert contest made with natural ingredients. All this accompanied by a sample of crafts and workshops of ceramics, loom and stone.

  • The General Direction for Youth, Participation and Volunteering has among its powers to promote work camps in the region of Galicia. This general direction belongs to the Ministry of Social Policy of the regional government of Galicia (
  • Municipality of Guitiriz and a local association, organize the Feira de canteria, callos e artesania and the Festa da torta de millo. Two celebrations where can enjoy of the music and Galician traditional culture. The volunteers of the Work camp will collaborate with the voluntary of the organisation, and they will do voluntary action destined to environmental awareness of the assistants. The volunteers will take part actively and will enjoy of the activities planned by the organisations. Volunteers assessments and suggestions for improving next editions. We enjoy the volunteers cultural expression of their countries favouring and boosting the skills grupais and of each volunteer in particular.Previously to the celebration of the festivals will remove the exotic alien vegetal species at the places of celebration, to avoiding dispersion of seeds.

  • Visit to places of interest at Guitiriz, Lugo, Ferrol, A Coruna...Local swimming pools.Environmental seminars.Hiking routes.
  • It is necessary to come with a sleeping bag and bathroom towels.

SVI is the Spanish association which represents the Spanish workcamps managed by the Autonomous Regions (except those in Catalonia). We are under the Institute of Youth (Injuve).

Injuve, an Autonomous Department of the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality, has, for some years now, been promoting specific programmes which are aimed at increasing and favouring different travel possibilities for young people. This enables those under 30 years of age to become aware of other realities, visit other places and have access to other cultures.

Included among these programmes is one known as International Voluntary Service (SVI), which deals only with workcamps. These are aimed at youth between 18 and 26 years old and their main objectives are:

- To encourage conduct that will favour the exchange of ideas and young people’s global development. This is achieved by volunteering and from the contributions made by youth from their own experience. This strengthens intercultural learning processes, personal development and the reinforcement of democratic values.

- To integrate experiences, personal knowledge and the global development of youth in the carrying out of an activity, within the framework of voluntary service.
The Youth Institute co-ordinates the exchange of places for young Spaniards wanting to volunteer in foreign workcamps and foreigners wanting to volunteer in Spanish workcamps. The Spanish workcamps are managed by the Autonomous Regions.
