  • Atades, Aragon Association of Intellectual Disability, is a private entity, oriented to the care and protection of people with intellectual disabilities throughout their life cycle. Without profit motive, its scope of action includes the Autonomous Community of Aragon.Atades leads since 1962 the intellectual disability in Aragon. For the fulfillment of our statutory purposes, we have an early care center, special education centers, residences, sheltered housing, day centers, occupational workshops, special employment centers and a leisure and free time club.
  • In this 15 day work camp you will collaborate with an agro/ecological and social inclusion project with disabled people. The work programme is 5 hours per day. And the Project involves:1- Restoring/rebuilding a barn/washhouse.2- Restoring a section of the historic trail.3- Creating a picnic area.Restore an old washouse. restore a Stone paved road create and build a picnic area near the river.During the 15-day period of the work camp, you will collaborate within an agrcological project, incorporating the socio-labour contribution of people with disabilities.Working days will be 5 hours a day.In the afternoons, we develop socio-cultural knowledge-based activities relating to the environment, recreational activities with visits to places rich in historical and artistic Pyrenean heritage, leisure activities and free time. These activities will also help you relate to people from other towns, cities and countries.
  • The facilities in Ascara are:For lodging we have 8 tents, each with space for 4 people set up in a fenced-off and sheltered field by the church in the centre of the village. There are showers and toilets (portacabins) in the campground and there is electricity and water. The kitchen tent is also in the field and has tables, benches and seats. You can use this common space when you like and it will be great for socialising, doing activities and workshops and cooking together. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookers, fridge, freezer and everything needed for cooking. Finally we have the use of the Ascara village social centre. This is for eating our meals and has a bar with soft drinks, a coffee machine, a wood stove, table tennis, board games, table football and space for up to 50 people. The library next door has internet with wifi, computers and, of course plenty of books.FOODThere will be a professional person running the workcamp. The volunteers will be expected to participate in the day to day running of the vegetable garden and, of course, will be able to enjoy cooking and eating the garden products. There will be a rota for clearing tables, washing up and cleaning the common area.It is essential that we know any allergies and food intolerancies the volunteers might have and whether they are vegetarians or vegans.
  • Ascara is 10 minutes by car from the town of Jaca.It is in Jacetania county in the north-west of Huesca province in the Aragon Autonomous region. We want the volunteers to discover and enjoy the area and we will visit some special places and monuments in the Pyrenees and also organise leisure activities, excursions, concerts, a percussion workshop, visits to the nearby town of Jaca, craft activities and cooke.
  • Young people interested in collaborating in projects related to the restoration of natural environments through bioconstruction and carrying out both rehabilitation and environmental work. You will want to know more about the rural environment and will be sensitive to working with people with disabilities (due to our relationship with the Agro-ecological project Skies of Ascara which supports the socio-labour contribution of people with disabilities). Social, cooperative and fun complementary activities will also be carried out, and active participation is encouraged.

SVI is the Spanish association which represents the Spanish workcamps managed by the Autonomous Regions (except those in Catalonia). We are under the Institute of Youth (Injuve).

Injuve, an Autonomous Department of the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality, has, for some years now, been promoting specific programmes which are aimed at increasing and favouring different travel possibilities for young people. This enables those under 30 years of age to become aware of other realities, visit other places and have access to other cultures.

Included among these programmes is one known as International Voluntary Service (SVI), which deals only with workcamps. These are aimed at youth between 18 and 26 years old and their main objectives are:

- To encourage conduct that will favour the exchange of ideas and young people’s global development. This is achieved by volunteering and from the contributions made by youth from their own experience. This strengthens intercultural learning processes, personal development and the reinforcement of democratic values.

- To integrate experiences, personal knowledge and the global development of youth in the carrying out of an activity, within the framework of voluntary service.
The Youth Institute co-ordinates the exchange of places for young Spaniards wanting to volunteer in foreign workcamps and foreigners wanting to volunteer in Spanish workcamps. The Spanish workcamps are managed by the Autonomous Regions.
